We are based in the medieval town of Conwy in North Wales, because of this our branch differs a little from our sister groups in that we are not purely Viking focused.

Along with the Vikings we are particularly interested in what the early medieval Welsh were doing in and around the same time period, along with full plate combat of the later medieval period.

This lends itself to more skirmish style fighting and different tactics to those of the incoming Vikings. Archaeological finds from this era can be scarce but the writings of early historians, the lives of the Saints, tales of the bards and Welsh mythology can all contain hints to our past.

Throughout the year we take part in a number of local historical festivals, including the Conwy Pirate Festival, Dafydd ap Siencyn festival, and Conwy Torchlight Parade. These all give us opportunities to branch out into different time periods and combat styles; from the round shield and spear work that early medieval North Welsh armies were famed for, to later period sword and buckler fighting, swashbuckling pirate sabre fighting and ranged skirmishing with bows, javelins and slings.
