While combat can occasionally be competitive, our main intent is experimental archaeology; learning the most effective use of each weapon in a historically accurate setting. How good is that shiny sword against an opponent in mail? And what weapon is best for defeating plate armour? As a result we train with a wide variety of weapons and configurations with specialized training in each. All the way from peasant weapons like woodchopping axes and spears up to warrior weapons like swords and Dane axes.

Part of our passion for re-enactment is living the life of a Viking.
We have a myriad of both Group and Personal kit that we utilise to create the atmosphere of the Viking Age wherever we go.
From cooking authentic Viking Aged foods to camping the traditional way.

If you’ve longed for the simpler life - to
‘Do Viking Things with your Viking Friends’
then you’ve found the right group!

A special and unique part of our living history display is the blacksmith forging we can do on the event site.
Both Conwy and Hereford have portable forges and can hammer out some small trinkets either for demonstrations or simply to help provide ambiance to an event.

Another element we bring to some events is a trading tent featuring some expertly crafted forged goods, created by Aaron
-The groups Jarl and Founder -
at the Royal Oak Forge
We also sell other goods created by our members. Whether it be by woodworking or forging, they’re always handmade and unique.
